Neetu Singh worked as a child actor under the name Baby Sonia and successfully made the transition to leading roles. In most of her films, she was cast as a fun-loving daughter or lively girlfriend. She acted opposite all the top young stars of her day, especially Rishi Kapoor with whom she appeared in half a dozen films.

Neetu and Rishi Kapoor's on-screen and off-screen romance blossomed into their marriage in 1979. Neetu was 21 at that time. Shortly after, at the peak of her career, Neetu Singh retired.

Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor have two children. Their son Ranbir Kapoor is an upcoming film actor, while their daughter, Riddhima, is a fashion designer.
