ArtWallah was founded in 1997 by a group of like-minded individuals seeking to build both a voice and a presence for the South Asian community in Los Angeles. ArtWallah's mission is to foster and promote artistic expressions of the South Asian diasporic experience, and to create channels of communication between artists and diverse communities. Our objective is to provide educational and cultural programming to build excitement, curiosity and dialogue by concentrating on 3 key areas: youth development, artist presentations, support services and publications. Through its broad range of projects, ArtWallah reaches over 10,000 people annually.

Sahara Foundation
The South Asian Helpline and Referral Agency (SAHARA) is a non-profit organization founded and directed by South Asian professionals who volunteer, help and serve the growing South Asian community in Southern California. SAHARA, which means 'support', is the culmination of grassroots efforts to serve South Asians and was formed as a referral agency in 1991. It was founded by seven professionals, five licensed clinical social workers and two physicians: Rusi Alamshaw; Chandrabala Alamshaw; Smita Patel; Charu Modi; Sheela Mehta; Sulochana Trivedi, MD and Pratibha Patel, MD; who are still actively involved in and committed to SAHARA.
SAHARA's goal is to provide comprehensive services to South Asians in a culturally sensitive and assured manner. In August 2003, SAHARA established one of the first transitional homes in Southern California aimed at serving South Asian survivors of domestic violence. Today, the SAWIN (South Asian Women In Need) home is SAHARA's crowning achievement.
