Vidhu Vinod Chopra
Vinod was born and raised in Kashmir, known as the Switzerland of Asia before it was ravaged by terrorism.
After earning an Economics degree, he enrolled in the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), the highest ranked university of its kind in Asia.
He made his mark with his graduate film 'Murder at Monkey Hill' which won the National Awards for best short film.
His next film 'An Encounter with Faces' was nominated for an Oscar in the short, non-fiction category.
Vinod has written, directed and produced prominent mainstream films which have won critical acclaim, commercial success and inspired a generation of directors.
In the coming year, Vinod will produce and direct his first English language feature, '64 Squares'. Also on the anvil are three more films which highlight his eclectic range. Ram Madhvani's 'Talismaan', India's first fantasy epic based on the path breaking & hugely successful Indian novel 'Chandrakanta'.
Rajkumar Hirani's 'Munna Bhai Chale Amerika', the third of the immensely successful Munna Bhai series and yet to be titled film, a satire on India's education system.
